KV140
RIGID DIPOLE ANTENNA FOR 40 METERS
( Length: 12.80m)

The KV140 is a bidirectional rigid dipole antenna for the 40 meter band. It is the radiating element of the KV240 and can be transformed into a 2-element Yagi antenna with the purchase of the transformation kit.
Although many people don't know, a rigid dipole antenna has a gain of 2.14 dBi, but can reach more than 6 dBi due to the positive interaction with the ground, as we can see in the radiation diagram simulated by software.
There are several advantages to using a rigid dipole instead of a wire dipole, such as having a bidirectional rotating dipole, installing in a horizontal position to obtain a uniform radiation pattern, keeping the ends of the antenna away from the ground, objects and structures, reducing noise pickup, etc.
COILS:
The calculation and construction of the coils was one of the main points of attention in the antenna design, since it is only possible to obtain a high-performance shortened antenna with well-constructed coils and quality wires. In our antennas, we use enameled wire with a gauge of 8mm² and a good ratio between length and diameter of the coils. These characteristics allow the coils to present very low losses and support high power. In addition, the coils were calculated to dispense with the use of "capacitive radials", which facilitates assembly and installation.
