KV180
RIGID DIPOLE ANTENNA FOR 80 METERS
Length: 16.00m

The KV180 is a robust bidirectional rigid dipole antenna for the 80 meter band with a total length of 16.00m (8.00m for each side) and uses high Q coils (high quality factor).
The dipole is mounted on an aluminum profile with polypropylene clamps to fix the radiating element and has two U clamps for fixing to masts between 1.1/4" and 2" and can also be fixed directly to the tower structure if the user chooses. The two-layer guying system with high UV resistance ropes (already included in the product) keeps the dipole close to the horizontal position with a slight downward curve.
Although many people don't know, a rigid dipole antenna has a gain of 2.14 dBi, but can reach more than 6 dBi due to the positive interaction with the ground, as we can see in the radiation diagram simulated by software.
There are several advantages to using a rigid dipole instead of a wire dipole, such as having a bidirectional rotating dipole, installing in a horizontal position to obtain a uniform radiation pattern, keeping the ends of the antenna away from the ground, objects and structures, reducing noise pickup, etc.
Through a KV80-KIT tuner kit (optional), it is possible to obtain full bandwidth in the 80m band on the same antenna. Be it SSB, CW and digital modes.
The KV80-KIT tuner kit (still under development) which is supplied separately, is a system that will allow the KV180 antenna to cover the entire 80m band. It consists of a console with a 4-position selection switch: SSB-1, SSB-2, DIGITAL and CW, and a tuning box connected to the feed point of the remotely controlled antenna.

COILS:
The calculation and construction of the coils was one of the main points of attention in the antenna design, since it is only possible to obtain a high-performance shortened antenna with well-constructed coils and quality wires. In our antennas, we use robust enameled wire and a good ratio between length and diameter of the coils. These characteristics allow the coils to present very low losses and support high power. In addition, the coils were calculated to dispense with the use of "capacitive radials", which facilitates assembly and installation.
